Performance

I have compared performance with one of Abit KX7-333.

I used the following equipment in tested system:
· CPU: AMD Athlon XP 1600+;
· Videocard: MX440 on NVidia GeForce4 chip 64Mb (nVidia Detonator v28.32);
· Sound card: Creative Live 5.1;
· HDD: IBM DTLA 307030 30Gb;
· Memory: 256 Ìb of Samsung PC2100 DDR SDRAM;
· Power supply: PowerMan 250W;
· Operating system: Windows 2000 English SP1

Firstly let's look at synthetic tests, which show theoretical performance:

The board has shown typical performance for KT333.

Conclusions

Well, Albatrons debut proved to be successful. A rather cheap board (~$85, September 2002) with good stability and performance appeared on sale. For those users who need to plug USB 2.0 devices, Albatron offers "Pro" version with new VT8235 south bridge. But there is no edition with RAID controller. There is nothing to note except Mirror BIOS and Voice Genie among specific features or brand technologies.
As the result, Albatron KX400+ looks more attractive than similar cheap boards from Elitegroup, Acorp and can compete with more expensive boards from Soltek, Epox and Chaintech.

Summary

Pros:
· Good expansion capabilities;
· Good stability and performance;
· Overclocking possibilities;
· Mirror BIOS and Voice Genie technologies;
· Low cost.

Cons:
· No edition, equipped with RAID controller;
